Today is the day that we launch the website and shop! And whilst we’re terribly excited about this milestone, we understand that it doesn’t make the most useful news worth blogging about. But oat milk does. And the reason it does is because we used to buy the oat milk cartons. Then we made our own one day and had a face-palm moment of “Why didn’t we do this sooner?”.
Here are the reasons you’re going to want to make oat milk from now on instead of buying it…
It’s easy. Like, really easy.
It costs about 1% of the carton price to make it from scratch.
You can flavour it to taste.
You don’t need to worry about crappy plastic disposal.
It’s easy. Yes. So easy we’re saying it twice.
And here’s your recipe:
Soak 1 cup of oats for at least an hour.
Strain and rinse your oats.
Add the soaked oats to a smoothie maker or food processor with 4 cups of water.
Strain into a bottle using a muslin cloth or nut milk bag.
Add 1tbsp Maple Syrup, a pinch of salt and a splash of vanilla extract (all optional and a matter of taste).
Revel in your newfound skills.
There you go. Told you it was easy. Aside from the soaking, the whole process takes less than 10 mins.
And if you’re feeling really fancy you can add 1tbsp of cacao for chocolate flavoured and blend a single hulled strawberry in there for strawberry flavoured pink milk.
Enjoy! And we’ll see you next week for another tip.
